Muskingum County Library System is Hiring a Human Resources Intern Near Zanesville, OH

The Muskingum County Library System is seeking a Human Resources Intern this summer.

Location: John McIntire Library (220 North Fifth St, Zanesville, OH 43701)

Salary: $15.00 per hour (25 hours per week, lasting 3 months)

Closing Date: OPEN UNTIL FILLED

Learning Objectives:

For this internship, you will develop an understanding of the role of HR in the public sector. You’ll gain practical experience in HR tasks such as recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, benefits administration and training.

Job Responsibilities: Under general supervision, the HR Intern will perform administrative support to the HR Director. The HR Intern will perform a variety of task related to HR operations, recruitment, onboarding, benefit administration, file management, employee engagement and training.

Qualifications: Enrolled in a university or college program at a junior or senior level, preferred course of study to include Psychology, Human Resources, Communications, or related field.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

Knowledge of basic HR principles and practices.
Knowledge of State and Federal employment laws and requirements.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to collect and analyze date.
Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with library customers, community representatives, labor officials, supervisors, co-workers and other job contacts.
Ability to learn and take on new task and responsibilities.
Skill in communicating effectively in written and oral form.
Skill in application of software including spreadsheets and word processing.
